Well, I'll be darned, it worked!
All this talk of rivers got me a bit worked up, so I drove to one of the rivers yesterday and swam around in one of the rapids. Used a diving mask instead of a helmet, but water quality was good, and there was even carnage from some folks that didn't get the memo that said summer is over. (These 90 degree days in October do make it kind of hard to tell.)
If the weather holds, I may do the 'Tot next weekend.
