David, next time I head west, like the Mulberry or something, I'll bring you an old Mohawk bent shaft you can try out. Shoot you can even have it for a 6-pack if you like it.

Can I have it for a six-pack, if David doesn't want it?

Re: Canoe Paddles
I'm paddlin a new Ocoee these days, when I can get it away from my son. He loves that boat but he hasn't paddled it on any real WW yet
I may get him a Viper when I get the boat fund built back up. The only WW I've paddled it on since I got it was section 9 on the French Broad. It was a blast.
I'm not real sure about using a J stroke with a bent shaft. They're really designed to use tandem on flatwater with hit and switch paddling. Based on the direction of the bend at the throat, I would think you'd be better off using a stern pry rudder for correction over a J, and not holding it for very long at all. But since that kills speed, it would be defeating the purpose of a flatwater bent shaft paddle. Tandem hit-n-switch is the ticket.
Is Mohawk still working on a new material for WW boats?

Yepper! The new material design is set for sometime next year. I know that's vague but engineering and r&d are not exact sciences.

Randy, if you're going to be at Rendezvous would you bring that Mohawk bent shaft paddle with you? I'll have an Viper 12 and a about eight other boats that you and your son should come check out and demo. Just a little push if you're on the edge about making the event.
