1st Annual Ouachita River Race

So it's all ready over? Thought the website said 28th of august? Not this weekend? What's the deal?

Well, we had it TBA when everyone signed up and they were all told the date would be flexible. So after some crazy date moving around and sponsors wanting to wait for next year we just decided to have it and work out all the issues. We have more sponsors for next year already than we had this year. Nobody was unhappy, I mean free pizza, money, bieng on the river...lol
I have organized races in the past on the Guadalupe in Texas but they were all tube races so no classes, divisions, or length and width limts and such played a roll in the race. This event became a bit more than we expected with the overwhelming demand and us not making it very clear it was an amateur event. So thats all out of the way now and we are focused on 2011 event.
This year was fun, but we need to get this AMATEUR thing embossed on folks heads. I will be adding that to the event so that people understand it is for fun not a serious competitive race. We are all about family fun, we will leave the serious racing event to people who know more about all the complicated things involved in competitive racing. We believe in family fun here on the Ouachita River and here in Magnet Cove. Its all about family. If you like that kind of thing this is the race for you. Watching a man with his son racing and laughing while swamping thier canoe is priceless. Pictures will be up soon.
