Hey Bob, could you post where the Gene Rush is as far as river location. Will this affect say Carver to Mt. Hersey. I say whatever it takes to clean up the meth. I know the area around Mt. Judea is pretty rough.

For many years our extended family and friends have floated the Buffalo...usually a short float because we are a lg group with small children. The past 2 years at Dillard's Ferry (take-out) Rangers really cracked down. Fines are much higher than most b/c it's a "federal park". Rangers hide at take-out and if they see you getting rid of a "bunch of cans". They'll stop you after getting in your vehicle to "check for seat-belts"..which leads to other scenarios...brother in law got hauled to Yellville and 2 passengers were given citations for open containers...they were in the back seats of a van. This was a mature group.. all 50plus of age...not a bunch of rablerousers. Also numerous "sobriety-stop" on the road to Buffalo Point

Many of our group have decided not to go anymore...too much repression!

If you float the Buffalo and drink...you'd best have a designated driver at take-out! They are harsh!

The Arkansas Game & Fish Gene Rush Wildlife Management Area borders the Buffalo River on the south side of the river and is roughly from Carver to Woolum.

I am glad I listened to my parents a few generations ago and never took up smoking and drinking. It makes life much simpler. And just think of all the boats and gear I can buy with what I would have thrown away on that stuff. I am afraid if I had ever gotten hooked on that stuff I would not have had the will power to quit. I feel for those who are in the same boat I would have been had I started. That applies to those who get hooked on drugs as well. I wish there was something I could do to help.

Umm, not sure enjoying a cold beer on the river means you are "hooked".

I know Richard, so I'll step in. Some folks can stop after one or two, or drink more but only occassionally. Other folks have more trouble keeping it under control. Richard was commenting on his fear of his own potential weakness; I don't think we should read more into it or take it as a criticism of our choices.

He knows sometimes I have a  and he has never given me grief over that.

One thing I admire about ACC folks is that they are accepting of those who do not share every aspect of their own beliefs. Individuality is not a bad thing here.

Richard is not only a Buffalo River Guru he is also one of the original "good guys". We all enjoy the times we get to spend with him. Way to go Richard!!!!
