Yeah, if you click on the link Harlan posted above it's WAY lower than when I looked at it yesterday. Yesterday the water was up maybe 6 feet up the ramp from the "preparation platform" and now that same platform is above water. Wonder what's causing it to vary so much?

That entrance rapid looks nasty. I never liked it much anyway. I've flirted with the hole at Grumpy's once and that was enough.

Still curious about consistency and level of flow.

we had a group there last weekend and regarding the entrance rapid...
if you like to ferry to river left, it's now easier. the path to ferry upstream of the triangle rock is closed off but now a ton of water flows behind it from right to left. it's almost not a ferry anymore. get out into the flow and follow it around the rock. then there's a short ferry across one water jet and you're in the river left eddies.

the down side is the launching eddie is much smaller. there wasn't much raft traffic last weekend (mostly guide training) so it wasn't bad... but in big raft season, it's gonna be crowded. kayak groups will need to stake a place in raft line, snap on skirt and GO!

as far as the slide at table saw, it was a big slide, but there's a lot of flat bank over there that caught it so no impact to the river. there is a lot of tree debris that could get washed downstream in a REALLY big flow.

otherwise, all is the same.

When I was a "scumbag" and the river was running high, we either launched further up the ramp or at the old put in below Grumpy's ledge. I wanna go be a scumbag again.

I was with a group a few years back and everyone cheered when we went through Grumpy's hole... the problem was they all quit paddling and we weren't past the hydraulic yet.

Everyone except me and one girl I hauled up over the side ended up swimming.

I told them to lock their legs in lol.

Anyway, with the two of us going, three paddle strokes and we were out. I hated to say "I told you so" but I did it anyway. Yeah, I'm a bastard sometimes. So what?
