Don't know about your local Bass Pro, but I was by ours last Sat to pick up some duck hunter sox they had on sale.
Along with the bass boats, they had some really tricked out Toyota 4WD double cab pickups. I mean lift kits big time, massive tires, all the hard core goodies installed. Awesome looking rigs to tow the bass boats. Price on the window was 69k and change. I know Toyota is in trouble these days with computer snafu's but a new Ford, Chevy or Dodge would be just a litte less all tricked out.
I remember when 69 k would buy you one heck of a nice brick home with swimming pool etc.
So if you do spring for a bass rig and tow truck, expect some big time payments. All this makes a set of yakima roof racks and a kayak look like a good deal

If you do quite a bit of fishing in the area, there is a GREAT forum called Ozark Anglers- ozarkanglers.com Try there for fishing information as the message boards are set up to discuss certan rivers.
Very knowledgable and friendly folks on there who can guide you in the right direction!

Think of canoes (or kayaks) like a set of golf clubs...you need one for every hole. Welcome aboard!

Ive floated that section once when it was kinda high, but there are numerous deep sandy pools that I would imagine would be great for catfishing. I didnt get to fish, but I would imagine from 412 to Withrow Springs would be awesome. If you are into fishing you need to check out Crooked Creek, about 2 hrs east of Fayetteville. You can float hwy 62 bridge to snow access and catch as many smallmouth as you would like. If you have any trouble finding the snow access pm me. My family lives down there. Good luck!

Thanks, I'll have to check it out. I have always heard about the fishing on Crooked Creek but have never made the trip over there.

Crooked Creek and Kings ae two of the better smallie streams in our area. War Eagle is great, but very dependant on water. I will have to go back through my notes to figure out what the level was last time we floated it. There is an outfitter renting canoes on it now as well......may be worth a call to him.
We put in at Kelleys Slab outside Yellville and floated to the Yellville City park. did that stretch a week before Thanksgiving last year and caught over 50 fish. You couldnt throw something they wouldnt hit......was very amusing.

King's River is one of my favorite river's to float and fish. I think we have actually changed our plans and are going to float the King's tomorrow. We are hoping we can get out there and see some bald eagles.

We have seen quite a few bald eagles this winter. A few below the dam at beaver and alot on the Elk. Havent been on the Kings since early fall. Level looks good for this weekend and with the temps almost getting the 50, they may start to feed a little bit.

Hey Shake,
What part of the Kings are you floating tomorrow? And what time? I'd love to tag along if it's OK and the river's not too fast.

Wildwood,
Sorry I didn't get your message until this morning. I was out of the office Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. We ended up floating Rockhouse to Trigger Gap on Saturday. Weather was gorgeous and the water was moving it was a good float and it definitely was nice to be out on the water. I am going to attempt to post some pictures for you guys.

If you're gonna float from 412 to 23 on the War Eagle 2.5-3.5 is a pretty good level. The first half mile or so is a little tuff and watch the first left turn after you put in. If you need anymore info on the creek call us at Withrow Springs State Park.
