Re: Swepco Park
the so called "head water"..they have a holding pool , or pond .."baby lake" with a concrete spill way dam. about 60 ft. wide. with a lower cut-out section that makes the fall, spillway or weer about 20 ft wide it drops about 4 to 5 foot into another pool and the stream flow starts.. the the director of operations said anything from that point could be used.?.... above that, the city gets the raw water from that pool ON TOP and in no way could that water be entered at all.... as for flow. it has a 32inch pipe overflow from the lake above .lake ALMA, and the water damage to the banks and around that dams edges show some big water with high water lines staining on the concrete walls ....... any river valley folks ever see this?
Re: Swepco Park
It's an interesting spot, Bob. I think Ryan Center knows something about it too, but I can't remember if that's the spot or not. If you get the go-ahead from the mayor to start planning, get some local boaters involved and get the ball rolling quickly! Opportunities like that don't come along often.

Re: Swepco Park
RYAN, i didn't want to say that! (they want lee because it's virgin Ozark water, unlike the Arkansas river.) but that is FT SMITH and another issue all together! with this addition of a new water treatment plant and the state of the art OZONE MAKER .things maybe different, as far as water needs for the surrounding area ......the mission is to meet the MAYOR, and set up a formal meeting to discuss the plan of turning the nasty looking creek into a new addition to the water park ! now the fact that the city dumps 60,000 gallons twice a week and about the same from the city pool during the season . and that will increase with the new plant going on line, is all in our favor...but i need the help from you with your plans and idea's to make the right steps!... i have opened the door!...... you coming in ,or what

Re: Swepco Park
I have seen some big water coming through the overflow of Lake Alma what becomes Little Frog Bayou. It runs approximately 200 yards from the overflow exit to an understreet culvert. Stream width is about 15 feet when flowing. Certainly has some potential. I'll see what I can find out too.

I don't know what help I can be, but I will do what ever I can. I don't know much in these matters. I do know that where the water goes under Collom Lane, it's like a big sieve in that area. You wouldn't want to be swimming in that area.

Re: Swepco Park
had 2 engineers along with the mayor looking over the edge at the creek. pointing fingers and waving arms for an hour yesterday? ....(i take it as a sign!)..but ,all i said is it could be lost revenue! and the next best thing to POPEYE 'S SPINACH for ALMA..it was nothing but smiles! from then on.... I did get grilled about lee creek, and being part of the "THAT CANOE CLUB".... !!! i said to be nice.. go gentle , or i would climb up on there water tower and paint a mustache and sunglasses on Popeye face,..
