Roger,
Thanks for the info. That is a sweet creek. I live in Jonesboro and definitely do not get over there enough. Besides the visual inspection at the take out do you know of any gauge that gives you any idea about the level ?? Strawberry R. ??

Roger,

I put up a YouTube vid with the highlights from our Wolf Bayou trip yesterday.

Hope you enjoy.

David, use this one:

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=07074000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ignore the suggested levels for the play spot. I think that it's been determined it starts to go at around 5.0 +. Use the AWA page for levels for just floating the creek.

Shelby, nice work! And thank you!!

Dave, oops, misread your post. As far as I know, it's a visual-only read. The way I've put the info together based on Lance's page and the OWP, is that if Possum Walk is going, chances are Wolf is going per Lance. According to the OWP, Possum goes off usually if the Cadron is at 8.0' or better. If you look at the their relation to each other in regards to location and check the rainfall for the areas, you could make the correlation.

My school is only fifteen minutes from the Wolf take-out :D (one of two routes I can travel between home and school). Possum can be read with a visual with only a fifteen minute detour off the same route. Be more than happy to get you the sight readings if possible in the future.

One thing Shelby noted in talking with me yesterday, I checked the level Thursday at 3:30 pm and the creek was rising with no discoloration of the water. Checked it a 5:30 am Friday with it just past its peak (probably by 2-4 hours) and still no discoloration. Water quality of the stream is unbelievable.

Can only count myself lucky for getting to do this one. And again, thanks to my swimming supervisors! :clap:

I'll add my assessment / comparison for this creek. It has a combination of high Ozark boulders (like you see on Richland), settled into a low boxed in canyon (like you see on Galla Creek), with higher bluffs up and away from the creek, with a narrow stream course completely clear of trees growing in the stream bed, and for our run yesterday the water quality was as clear as the water on Section III of the Chatooga.

99% on my photos I take from my boat and so the vast majority of my photos are crappy. But I got one real good one yesterday looking back upstream at Wolf Bite.

Yeah, I got lucky with this one thanks to Shelby's radar!!! Boat is straight on creeker and surfs the easy stuff with no problem. REally hadn't done that much surfing.

Obviously, it's not a fast boat, but once you get used to the shortness and adjust your paddle placement on your strokes, it's not hard to get a little speed. Boofs are easy when I remember and hit the last stroke on time!

If we can get on river together some time, you're welcome to try it.

I know I had put if for sale but after my last couple of runs on Richland and this one, got second thoughts since a used Spanish FLy is going to be hard to find and I don't need to drop the bucks for a new one.

Incredible scenery. How could anyone not fall in love with paddling in Arkansas after seeing scenery like that! Arkansas is a beautiful state. :D :D :D
