Last year the gate was open during hunting season. I haven't checked it this year. Roger, how far away is the low-water bridge off Warren Mountain from the Natural Area?
If you come and paddle it, let us know. We may be able to offer freshments a couple of miles up the hill from the takeout (if we're around).

Re: Info on Big Creek
Think of three accesses for put-in above the McJester take-out. The wildlife area access will be the closest one. Probably cuts the length in half if you were able to put in at the first bridge up from the wildlife area which is the one that is closed.
Might check Tom's book for that mileage.

Richard, Cowper, someone else with a mapping program--can you give distances?
There is also a Big Creek that flows into the Strawberry that I absolutely love. It's covered with sweet little ledges that are good for very easy surfing.

Re: Info on Big Creek
I have a place nearby on the Little Red and tried without sucess to come up with a viable way to paddle Big Creek. Along with the access issues, there are apparently large areas of willow jungles. I asked around among my local contacts and the few who had tried it once never went back.
My understanding is that the low water bridge is open b ut the side road to Flat Rock, the party spot, is gated.
