Brandon and his boat did great.......they survived. I've never seen a paddle and helmet get shattered that bad, at least it was borrowed gear!!!! See you next time Brandon. Also when Chris says "solid paddler" it means SOLID!!!!

Brandon said he would be out of town until Monday or so due to a batchelor party and some more floats. I'm glad he had a good run. Never got to run with him when he was in a open boat. Please tell me you were joking so I don't start looking for another carbon bent shaft Werner. They've been sort of hard to find of late.

Thanks - the new ones are running between $430 and $440, NOT what I paid for mine, but what it would cost to replace. The other paddles I offered him are not made any more and would have been really hard to replace. I did offer him some helmets with more protection, but that was the one that came closest to fitting him. Brandon just sold his old helmet to my bow partner, so I figured I owed him a loaner if nothing else, until he could find one to paddle with, and since I can't use my gear right now, he might as well get some use out of it. I used to break paddles more than I have lately (and a couple of helmets), so I got used to having back ups which doubled as loaners. Showed Brandon my first kayak paddle, a 210cm Norse for comparison. Think he liked the Double Diamond better. Gear has come a long ways in 40 years.
