I figure the meeting I'm scheduled to attend Saturday can do fine without me (better?) and have a hall-pass from my bride, who's committed elsewhere. Let's raft something Saturday and Sunday!! The Tot's there for rafts today, but may not hold... That leaves Big Piney or Cadron still holding water, unless the Rain Gods take pity and smile tonight... Crane

Zach,

I think I am going to try and jump on something this weekend. I just do not know what yet Richland or the Tot? Right now the Tot has more water but I think if Richland goes I would like to try that out.

I am in Memphis now and new to the area. Came from NC and used to Eastern rivers. It's awesome to hear people talk about rafting. I have an old school DIB bucket boat and have been using it out East. I'd love to tag along with anyone that will have us. I've never been on any of the rivers mentioned above, but am itching to get either the rubber or the plastic boat out this weekend. Will anything hold & anyone planning to raft on Sunday?

TB, having done upper Richland (R2,3,4) and rowed lower, Ocoee R2 and rowed some of it, Racecourse R2, Upper Richland requires the most technical skill, IMHO. Byron and I last year started each day on the Ocoee with an R2 run just to get aquainted and have a good look. Lots of fun!

Zach, it's not hard. You either paddle forward or backward, maybe a draw now and then. Self-bailing rafts are a blast. They don't fill up with water and bounce off rocks, handle much like a tandem canoe. Jump in and go!

You have no idea. Not only does ARG do raft support on the river, if your name begins with Z we run a free hard boat shuttle service for you from Fayetteville to LR.

Props to you and your partner for your clean run on Richland yesterday. Waterfalls, snow and 0 degrees Celsius, Redbud's blooming, 5+ feet on the gauge, and cold beer at the take out. There are c. 3,000,000 people in Arkansas, and 2,999,985 of them were NOT on upper Richland yesterday. What do we know that they don't?

Davidbob,

Well I would say what we know that others don't would be how to get our priorities in order. I mean if Richland is Running at 5ft you better be there or be square, right???

Thanks to the ARG crew & Dale "canoe" Barton, Jim C & Myself made a successful mayden voyage down Upper Richland at 5 plus feet.

Wow what a ride!
I still can't get the permanent smile off my face.
14 years after my first hiking trip to Richland Creek my dream of running this creek has come true. I guess dreams do come true!

As one of the newest pledges to ARG I can't say thanks enough guys. I had a lot of great laughs on Saturday. We did learn a few lessons this weekend & thanks for taking the chance on a couple of new guys. Hopefully each run will continue to prepare us for what's next. Thanks to Dale's surf at Cindy's we accomplished catching the smallest eddy of our lives. lol

Great job on the trip report Davidbob!
I'd say it was more than kind to us.
Without the tutorial from ARG we sure would have surely bounced off a few more rocks, taken refuge in the bottom of our boat more often, & had to highside at least 2 more times.... Note to self... Always listen to words of wisdom. Espically when the are, "We usually run right or left of that rock. Not right over it." lol

I'm looking forward to training lesson number 2 from ARG.
Can't wait to catch up with you guys again.
I'll be doing my rain dance everyday until then.

Jeremy A.
