It's an Olympus Stylus 1030 SW. It's a small camera, about the size of a deck of cards but packs in a lot of features. It's 10 megapixel, shockproof, waterproof, and easy to use. It's small enough that I can slide it in-between my life jacket and dry top on my side and I hardly know it's there, and I can whip it out at anytime and put it away quickly. They have a little floatie attachment that you can get for $20, it gives me piece of mind after I take it out of the neoprene case and untether it.what olympus are you using??
I was talking to the guy at Best Buy, and he said they had one on display at the store in Fort Smith and the display said that it was waterproof, shockproof, crushproof, dustproof. He said that everyday someone walked by, picked it and banged it on the table. Display was up for 6 months and it never missed a beat.
The pictures I took look a little funky because I had accidently changed a setting. It had a big -3- on the screen but I didn't figure out until later that it was on some kind of fluorescent setting.
In the video of the Esses, I was in a surging eddie and barely hanging on. I should have had it on the anti-shake setting, and maybe zoomed out a little because it was too jittery.
I really dig the camera, no complaints.

I have the same camera and use it for kayaking and backpacking. I've dropped it from about 4ft onto a rock and no problems. I always use anti-shake mode on the water. By the way, I believe the float they sell is supposed to be neutral buoyancy. It's made so a diver can let go of it and the camera will stay where it's at in the water. I imagine it would allow it to sink to whatever depth gravity brought it to and then float down the river.iYak wrote: In the video of the Esses, I was in a surging eddie and barely hanging on. Great photos - thanks for posting!
And I really like the smugmug site - I can actually watch the videos. For some reason I can't watch videos very well from webshots (b/c of my antiquated computer?).

I like the smug mug site as well. Your photos and videos are great quality too! Out of curiosity do you have to pay to use smugmug?

I never thought that I would pay for something like a photo site that I could get for free, but I tried the free trial and liked it so much that I went ahead and payed for it.
What really sold me on smugmug:
ulimited storage
easy to use interface with nice functions that let users save the original photos or easily order a print for a reasonable price
videos
unlimited band width
great statisics
fast website
One of the best parts is it's so easy to send files to my account. Before, I would have to go through all the pictures and write down the ones I wanted to post, now when I'm in my Pictures folder, I just right-click the photo/video and select "Send to Smugmug" (see picture below). To send multiple photos you just hold down Shift or CTRL and select the ones you want, then right-click - send to smugmug. It couldn't be easier...

Here is the one I use http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-202204-ST ... B0014DURIW" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , it's not neutral buoyancy, it floats where you can see the top of the orange floatie.By the way, I believe the float they sell is supposed to be neutral buoyancy. It's made so a diver can let go of it and the camera will stay where it's at in the water. I imagine it would allow it to sink to whatever depth gravity brought it to and then float down the river.
Also on that same page, I use the neoprene case that keeps the viewfinder from getting scratched up. I attatch the loop of the neoprene case to a d-ring on the side of my life jacket, then tuck it inbetween my life jacket and drytop.
