Ice and Freezing Rain
Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
I live on 127 s. at aurora AR. 20 minutes from kings river falls. We have had power all day, although everyone else in the area has not. I guess that when you buy gas and hook up the generator you don't lose power. Yeehaaa. The rivers like war eagle and kings river are difinately up, but I am staying dry and warm. break out the board games and whiskey.

I saw three transformers explode, needless to say it was awesome. (okay don't flame me I know that was really really selfish but it looked bada$$). Did some sledding yesterday, hurts way worse than snow if you fall off. Cannot wait until this weekend for some paddling, sure am glad I got my dry suit! Nothing better than boofing an iceburg.
It could be worse, it could stop raining

So..it looks like everything in the northern half of the state is either in flood stage, optimal, or coming up. If this isn't the biggest tease in the world...everything running...no way to get to it.
Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
Got a call from Eric Esche. He has tree damage and limbs on his house. No power but he still has phone service. He doesn't need any help but will be looking to have professional tree trimmers pay him a visit.

Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
Ryan Center said tree limbs popping like fireworks last night at his place in Winslow. Several hitting his roof. Hopefully no damage. They still have no power there - out for 48 hrs.
Maybe by tomorrow the creek roads will be accessible to 4WD, but they will be extremely muddy! Also take a chainsaw to clear out trees. And spread the word, especially to newbies, to watch out for wood on the rivers this weekend! Definitely will be new lumber in the creeks in NWA.

My parents in Fay. said it looks like WWII in their yard. Every tree is either down or mangled.
Trees on their car and up and down the streets as well.

Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
I did alot of driving around yesterday and found many downed trees and many roads blocked in Fayetteville. However, as far as amount of ice and snow, I believe Siloam Springs has most of NWA beat.
Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
Newton County has been hit hard. Every tree around our house is badly damaged. Nobody in Newton County has power. We are told it will be 2 weeks before we get it back.
Power lines and trees are covering the roads.

Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
Looking for a Thursday p.m. Fayetteville update. Have friends stranded north of Dickson due to trees on cars/driveway. What are the streets like today? Is it feasable to drive to them with chainsaws and supplies?

I can't speak for Dixon Street, but I-540 is clear from Rogers to Mountainburg. I drove it this morning. The roads around the interstate in Fayetteville looked clear. Rogers still had an inch or so of ice on most of the roads except the interstate. Traffic was flowing pretty smoothly. I believe most of Fay and Springdale are out of power still.

Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
I just got net connection back.
It's bad here in Farmington.
Tree damage is the worst,
Roads are in good shape if no tree blockage.
Nice day today helped a lot.
Dickson street is all good, power on and refrigerators running.
I drove downtown and around a bit yesterday,
I will post pics asap.
Looking to break this cabin fever with some creekin' this weekin'
Who's going where?
(I can bring a chainsaw)

Mulberry? Piney? Frog? All of those should be clear of ice and hopefully not much tree damage either....

Re: Ice and Freezing Rain
my dad lives in Springdale, been w/o power since tuesday and got downed trees around house. one tree that fell snapped the power line from his house.
I live in the tulsa area and will be heading his way early saturday morning. With food, clothing, and help to get yard cleared. What is the gas station situation? It takes me a tank of gas to get there, will I need to bring gas with me to drive back?
Hope I can make to him by going down 412 into Springdale? He hasn't got out much to report what kind of access to the area I will have. You guys comment? I will be going through Siloam Springs of course and heard it's bad.
I would really appreciate anyone giving me what news they can up until I head his way saturday morning.

I can't speak for Siloam but I know some of Springdale got electricity back today. Gas stations near the interstate were open. Resturants near the interstate looked open.
