Each year we do a weekend campout with sat being all you can eat endless assortment of dutch over entrees and cakes on sat with a big camp fire and late evening raid on left overs, then an all you can eat pancake and sausage breakfast sunday morning. Great attendance I think Chapter Presidents Fish and Judy have figured the attendance motivators out!

Fish: My meetings in NW AR have been postponed due to possible weather in the mornings ... so, I will miss the free pizza this time. Thanks anyway. I hoping my sister and her husband will still make it. Linda and Sammy Helm. Maybe you can convert them from Central to NW Chapter since they live up there.

Someone will need to try and take my place in eating Ryan's share of free pizza! Just as well since Spring is just around the corner!

I would hate to lose any of my paddling friends. Weather is not looking very good.
A road can change from drivable to deadly in a matter of minutes when ice is involved.

Monday Night: Occasional rain or freezing rain. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 26.

New ice accumulation of 0.2 to 0.4 of an inch possible.

I'm watching the ice situation, and it looks like it will indeed get bad. Looks like they're talking about a good chance of ice forming as soon as it gets dark tomorrow, although the exact timing is still in question a bit. I spoke with several club officers up here this evening, and we are all in agreement that we do not want anyone risking their neck for some free pizza.

So, as much as it pains me, I am going to CANCEL THE PIZZA PARTY FOR TONIGHT AND MOVE IT TO NEXT MONTH'S MEETING (FEBRUARY). Please spread the word as much as possible to all the folks you know who might be trying to come! I'll be posting this under another topic on the board as well to make sure it gets attention.

I'm sorry to have to cancel it - I was really looking forward to boring everyone with my old paddling stories again! :-) We'll work to get Buffalo R. Partners on the schedule for next month and have an even bigger party then!

Bumping this back to the top to point out that we have rescheduled the NW Chapter Pizza Party for Monday, Feb 23. Same great free pizza! Same cool place to meet lots of paddlers! Same boring guy reading announcements. Hopefully no ice this time!

Spread the word and hopefully we'll get to feed a bunch of hungry folks next Monday night!

Team Stupid will be well represented at the Pizza Party. They always are when there's free food to be had.

Jon, we will be screening Buffalo Flows again very soon, probably at our March meeting or possibly April. Not sure where you can buy a copy, but I'll ask Trey and see what he says.

What a meeting... New restaurant, TONS of announcements and speakers (I think 6 or 7 people had the floor at one point or another), and a HUGE crowd showed up! We had between 60 and 65 people attend - certainly a record for a NW Chapter meeting! Unfortunately we only had about 55 seats! I apologize for having some folks standing for a while - we just overflowed our space in the restaurant, and we weren't prepared for it. Thanks to everyone for being patient while we worked through our growing pains!

Big thanks to Buffalo National River Partners and Reel Recovery for their presentations to us. I look forward to ACC working with both of these great groups in the future. Also thanks to Pack Rat Outdoor Center and Southtown Sporting Goods for their donations to our drawing - a couple of lucky folks won a gift certificate and a 4 quart dutch oven (respectively). Thanks also to Tom Buroughs for providing the A/V equipment and to Matt Taylor for providing a very cool paddling DVD "The Final Final". And finally, thanks to Gusanos Pizza for being so accommodating and for the great pizza and service! Gusanos is a great restaurant, and if you haven't been there, I highly recommend a visit!

Hope everyone got plenty of pizza and thanks to everyone who showed up and helped out! If you missed our early Mardi Gras party this year, come on out to any of the meetings last Monday of every month. We can't feed everyone pizza every month, but the same great people are always there, and we'll make sure there's enough chairs to go around!
