Just to make sure we are all on the same page.
Allen and I are driving up Friday Morning and will be camping on a gravel bar between Spring Creek and Hwy 14 Friday night.

Gretchen and Ryan, I am assuming you are driving up in the evening. Is that Thursday evening or Friday evening?
If it is Thursday evening, then I would suggest you camp at Rush because that is where we will be Friday morning to set shuttles.
If it is Friday evening, Then we will meet you at Hwy 14 Saturday morning at 10 am or so.

Richard we will meet you at the Hwy 14 bridge on Saturday. Unless the moon is bright enough we might just surprise you on the gravel bar Friday night. :D

Ryan, where we camp Friday night very much depends on when you will be joining us. We will be near Jackpot Bluff if you will be with us Friday night. Otherwise we will be closer to Hwy 14. I hope you will join us Friday night. It should be perfect for a moonlight float. And a campfire will be waiting. Let us know.

Wind chills will drop into the 20s late Friday night and will remain in the 20s and teens until Sunday.

COLD AND WINDY SATURDAY.
VERY COLD AND CALM SATURDAY NIGHT.

WARMING ON SUNDAY. Gretchen may even be barefoot on Sunday

All right, talked me into it. I will float down under moonlight unless it is raining. See you and Allen tomorrow night on the river side.
It's possible I could be off early tomorrow and see you right at dark. Either way we will be there.

Yes indeed. The weather was OK and the trip was great. That place is almost majestic under full moonlight. And taking a rinse off in the Buffalo in below freezing temps is refreshing.
Eric, you would have been proud to see how much wood I carried into camp on my all ready loaded boat. Kinda scary.

We had one major mishap. Allen's dog Coochess (I hope I got the spelling right) took a nose dive out of his pickup. Not a fun experience. This was a dog float and we had three dogs. I will let Allen tell about Cooches.
My two had a blast. Friday they were full of life. Same with Saturday. Not sure how they spent most of Saturday night but their fur was covered with frost . . . as was all gear not under cover. By the time we packed up they seemed to be happy to just relax and lay in the canoe. That was a first for them. They slept all the way back to Conway.

We had five human participants. Gretchen, Painter Bob, Ryan, Allen and me.
All arrived at various times. Put in was Spring Creek and we camped at Jackpot Bluff. Weather was pleasant until Ryan showed up. Someone needs to talk to that boy about the type of weather he brings with him. We had rain/sleet Friday night. Saturday we paddled on good water but with a pretty hefty headwind at times. Windchill was cold. Our plan was to camp at Bice Bend but we decided instead to camp across from Toney Bluff because it was blocking the wind. Awesome fire Saturday night.

My camera froze up . . .litterally. And it wasn't until Sunday morning that I put it under my coat for an extended time did it come back to life. Consequently no pictures until we were already packing up. I wish I could have gotten a picture of Ryans canoe. Words don't do justice to his wood hauler.
Wonderful group. One amazingly wonderful river. Crystal clear.

Here are the pictures I took. They definitely don't tell the whole story. BTW, these posted pictures are 30% of the original size so if you want a copy, email me and I will send the higher resolution ones.

This Weekend was GREAT! And proof if you don't like the weather in Arkansas hust hang around for 24 hours it will be different.

Coochie the dog, aka the Cooch, Coocher and the Big Fat One! Whe comes to all of these names. But she took a pretty good lick when she fell out on the back of the truck. This dog has riden a 1000 miles in the back of my truck and thank God we were only going about 20 mph down Spring Creek road. I think she lost her footing on a dry back and at a 100 lbs she went over the side. Other than a skint nose she is no worse for the wear. But it will be a while before I let her ride in the back of the truck again.

It was a little cold Saturday even in the raft and was much harder than canoe's to row into the wind at times. Last night the full moon was killer and we had a great fire thanks to the Giant being with us as he found a tree stump to put on the fire and it worked really well.

It was a great group and we had a blast and the river to ourselves.

I have also have a questions does anyone know what the deal is with the house on river left at the top of Toney Bluff I see on the map there is a road with three houses at the end of it the one we could see the night light at was the third one back from the end of the road. I'm just curious because on the map it shows the property to be inside the park boundery. I hope I know who it is really nice place. But you can see the lights from the river.

See everybody on the next trip!!

Hey Team Freeze! Sounds like a wonderful trip, as usual! Richard, the dogs certainly looked like they had a great time. What a life, huh! Thanks for sharing, at least I can experience it vicariously, LOL. Just wait til I get more experienced!!! And I'm slowly amassing my winter collection. I'll be ready to join you next winter. And of course when it warms up in spring.
