Wow! I just checked this creek out on AW and it looks impressive. It is unfortunate that someone has taken this course of action to discourage visitors. Maybe after this creek gets cleaned up some hidden motion-sensor cameras focusing on trees (that could be cut down to impede the creek) would at least ensure evidence if it were to happen again.

After being robbed my bosses use thoose game tracking cameras out at there farm in the barn and around the place. They are digital and work in infrared so there is no flash, and store lots of pics. use a memory card too.

I've had occasion to use game cameras against trespassers, etc. a couple of times.

Take your laptop to the field, download the photos, and stop by the offending party's place to chew the fat - "let me show you some of the pics I've been taking". No confrontations, nothing else said, end of problem.

If approacing the folks isn't your style, print out a few photos, and tack 'em to trees along a few access points. Bet they'll get the message pretty quickly.

Pinned to the trees with a note that reads:
Dear chainsaw ninja, if this happens again, we the forest folk will show you a brand new storage spot for your chainsaw. KY will be provided of course.

Thank you,
