Roman,

Thanks for posting that article. We currently paddle SOT's and want to move into a more capable traditional style kayak. I paddled Marlo's XP10 last Sat. afternoon and I now have a case of "boat envy" or "boat lust" not sure which. Gary suggested I try his or a Fusion some time (he was in a diffferent boat Sat.). I am hard to fit in most kayaks - 6'3", 245 lbs, & size 14 feet. But once we got everything adjusted I found the XP10 almost roomy. I was only in it a few minutes and would really like to do a few miles in one but I really liked it. I do want to try the Fusion some time in the future. This is helpful info.

Also, Jackson All Water is similar. 9' and 10' models.
Let there be rain!

I've used my XP 9 about 10 times this summer on the Cadron, Bib Piney (lower), Illinois Bayou, Buffalo, and the Spring rivers. I also have the Dagger Approach in both the 9 and 10 foot models. The XP is much stronger and quality built. The storage is great. I've had it caught on a tree in the rapids for 8 minutes and not a drop of water went into the storage. The storage is large enough for rope, lunches, first aid, etc.

I'm a beginner kayaker and love the drop down skeg on both the Approach and the XP though the XP is easier to use and better built. It is slower on the flats than recreational kayaks but in the rapids it is wonderful. I've tried to roll it but have not been able to do it. I don't find enough lower back support in either seat but the seat in the XP is far superior. Basically, everything is better in the XP. The Approach digs into the water in drops but the XP boofs up quickly.

I highly recommend the XP for those like me who enjoy rapids but paddle many rivers that are pool and drops.

John

Would you say that the Fusion can handle say up to class 4 rapids? The guy on the website for the remix XP said that boat can handle class three and mild class 4 rapids.. The design of the fusion looks more capable in white water then the XP but they only claim capability up to class 3 on their website..

They did a self supported run of the Grand Canyon with XP10's. I'm thinking they ran more than mild class 4 rapids! lol

Two friends and I took three brand new xp9s on a trip out east this summer. We ran the Pigeon three times, the French Broad once, and the Nantahala once. We have also taken these boats out on the Piney several times this year. They are great for overnight trips or just loading them down with food and drinks for a long day of paddling. They handle the whitewater very well for what they are and when you drop the skeg down they are one of the fastest boats I have ever been in. The liquid logic outfitting is super comfortable even when you are in the boat all day. Oh yea.... and they are super easy to roll. Even when I had the boat loaded down it still felt effortless.
