You're all correct except for one person. I won't say which (or is that who?). In any case, I thought I'd mention a couple of things. My good friend Paul Smith and I launched on the Eleven Point without incident last Saturday. The accesses were open for use with the ranger's blessing but of course the amenities (camping and restrooms) were off limits. Float camps were open and clean as a whistle, although we decided to camp on a gravel bar instead. That jewel is three hours from Little Rock and is open for business.

BNR and other National Parks and memorials may well be reopened by this weekend. And Federal workers are slated to get full backpay for their two week vacation.

The Canadian software developer which built the single-payer system for that country, Conseillers en Gestion et Informatique (CGI), is working around the clock to patch together the wreckage of the Healthcare.gov website they spent years constructing. Hawaii also hired CGI and report 0 people signed up through the portal there.

A heads up though to Arkansans. The person who has been given Arkansas as a part of the territory his group will be PPACA navigator of is none other than Louisiana union boss, former founder of disbanded ACORN, Wade Rathke. Some of you may remember him from a few years back. Good luck friends.

No winners here, just differing degrees of losing, Buffalo lovers being in that group. Nothing was stopped or gained. Looks like just more division. The Senator who started it is vowing "it ain't over". The House leader can't heard cats. The Presidents "won't negotiate" hard line did nothing to bring the country back together. No budget deal was reached. Worst of all it looks like we will go through this again in January.

In reality it wouldn't have mattered one way or another to Washington if the Buffalo was open during this debacle. It did however hurt us.

I know that I have been critical of the BNR Rangers in past posts, but I wanted to give them some props about some things I learned. Apparently, there were people camping at Steele Creek during the shutdown, and the Rangers just gave them a pass. Also, plenty of people hiking the trails also being left alone. The only people they were messing with was if they caught you in the act of moving barricades, which I'm told, were all moved. If this is true, and it came from an on site source so it must be, I owe them a great big THANK YOU for not being part of the insanity of closing the river.

McConnell (R-KY) got a $2.9 Billion dollar pork project tucked into the bill for his trouble. Not exactly a "Clean CR".

on the other hand, ole Jan listened to her people and reversed a decision. Something I wish a lot of political types would do.

Those government employees who were not essential will get back pay.

I seriously doubt AZ will get reimbursed.

Read some where that those military families with loved ones KIA that were taken care of by a wounded warrior type organization would not get reimbursed for the money they provided when the DOD would not live up to a contract they made to our military.
