PICKUP & PADDLE AT CADRON CREEK SATURDAY, 3/27/10
Join in the fun this Saturday RAIN OR SHINE as we beautify a mile of highway 65 and paddle through the rapids of Cadron Creek. We will pick up the trash along our adopted one mile of Highway 65 and then paddle the creek. We will be paddling from the new private access at Mr. Johnny Weidower’s property to Highway 65, which is about 7 miles of Class II and full of play spots. All you need to bring is your boat, your lunch, and a pair of gloves for touching the trash. Trash bags will be furnished and the Highway Department will collect the trash bags when we are through. Our fastest collection time so far has been twenty minutes, but count on a little less than an hour.
FREE CARABINER TO ALL LITTER PICKERS !!!
Meet at 11:00 A.M. in the parking lot under the north end of the Highway 65 bridge over Cadron Creek. The bridge is located about two miles north of Greenbrier on Highway 65. The road down to the parking lot is Ozark Drive and is located about three quarters of a mile north of the bridge; it is the same road you would take to get to the Ozark Trade Center, on the east side of the highway by the big blue sign. There are brown Cadron Creek Access signs on the highway shortly before Ozark Drive on both sides of the highway. Take Ozark Drive all the way down to the end to get to the parking lot. Here’s a link to a Mapquest map with a star at the point where Ozark Drive is located (about 1400 Highway 65 N):

Re: PICKUP & PADDLE AT CADRON CREEK SATURDAY, 3/27/10
Bump.
Big fun on Saturday! Prizes! FREE CARABINERS !!! Surfing contest! First Swimmer Award! Secret Eddy prize!
We'll get the chore out of the way and romp on the river. Besides awarding a free carabiner to each litter picker, the first person to come out of their boat will receive the coveted "First Swimmer Award". This award is gratefully given by the group for taking the pressure off of the rest of us. Another award will be handed to the best surfer at the traditional lunch spot wave (whether we eat there or someplace earlier in the romp). This tricky wave has vexed many paddlers lately and needs to be taught a lesson by some ace surfers. Back by popular demand is the "Secret Eddy" award, to be given to the first boater to catch the special eddy selected by yours truly. Nobody knows which eddy I have selected, but you can be sure it will be a difficult one that requires superior skill and unequalled bravery (meaning I have probably not caught it after trying many times). Come one! Come all! Bring gloves! 11:00 a.m. at the Highway 65 bridge. Be there! Be there!

Re: PICKUP & PADDLE AT CADRON CREEK SATURDAY, 3/27/10
Hope to see you in that new Burn, Karla.
We'll eat at Greenbrier's famous Joe’s Pizza after our trip down the Cadron this Saturday, 3/27/10; see the PICKUP & PADDLE AT CADRON post for full details. We will surf the salad bar and munch the Mini Special for kaykers ($6.50 for a personal pizza, salad bar, and all you can drink). Special dining room for kayakers (if the hogs have gone to market).
Smell you there!

Marlo and I had a delightful time Saturday! Thanks Mike for organizing the day and your continual efforts! As cool , cloudy, and windy as the day started, I wasn't sure we would do the floating part, but it turned out to be just a beautiful afternoon and a fun float. Very good to see everyone!
Best Regards

Re: PICKUP & PADDLE AT CADRON CREEK SATURDAY, 3/27/10
That BIG THANKS goes double for me. It was our best attended cleanup ever! 40 minutes to get the trash was right up there with world class litter pickeruppers, too!
Chester Robinson won the Secret Eddy prize by catching a tiny one on river left as we exited the old CCO campground area.
Jeff Gannon won the surfing contest at the lunch spot in his new Jackson All Star.
First swimmer received a rubber ducky and will remain nameless.

I didn't get any carnage shots during the day, but I must say Karla, you styled 'Daddy's Knees' and I couldn't have been more pleased.
