NO THROW ROPE CONTEST SATURDAY 3/27/10

Post by CAPTAIN ALEVE » Fri Mar 26, 2010 9:52 am

There will not be a throw rope contest on the drive through the pasture to the Cadron put-in this Saturday, 3/27/10, after our PICKUP & PADDLE; see the post with that title. Previous contest winners were usually determined by seeing who could rope a calf first. Our last winner accidentally roped the BULL, and the resulting mayhem caused a significant delay in launching our river trip. If you should be lucky enough to spot a red throwbag in the grass as you drive in this Saturday, be sure to determine what the rope is fastened to before gathering it up.

See you Saturday to moooove some trash!

I have to ask, is it kosher to "rope" peoples cattle who are allowing us to use their land for access? It seems to me that you should be as covert as possible in and out. "Throwbagging" calves would P#$s me off if I were a landowner.

We used to rope the landowner before he started running cattle to distract us. He's still a mighty good sport and continues to let us in.

All in jest, Steve.
