Big Maumelle River right below the spillway?

Post by kit_03_85 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:37 am

Does anybody know if the Big Maumelle River right below the spillway is open for kayaking and has anybody tried it? The sign says "no surfboards" or "surfing" but doesn't say anything about kayaks or other boats. I know the Big Maumelle is open to kayaking but didn't know if there was something special about this location.

It has looked really tempting the last few times i went out there. I've been looking for an excuse to try out my whitewater boat, just waiting on warmer weather.

I drive over it every day and have been very tempted, but never tried. The only reason CAW has it posted is for liability, but it's a fairly low traffic area. Send martinm a pm and discuss this with him.
