Dear ACC Board Access MB Via Mobile Devices
Begging the indulgence of the webmaster and ACC Board on what may be a personal item of privilege here but it confounds me that some mobile devices are able to access and other are not able to access the Message Board.
I realize there are constraints but after all this is 2010 and I should be able to access the Board with a Droid, Blackberry, iPhone or any other mobile device. This is a frustrating scenario and I have reached a point that I find it completely untenable.
Please advise on a COST to update the message board software so that it is capable of 3G mobile access via Blackberry, Droid, or iPhone I am ready to shell out my $hare so that I can be afforded the convenience of doing so.
Okay flame on or off per your personal preference. We are about to hit the spring creekin' season and on occasion I will be at locations without a hardwired computer and only a mobile device and in desperate need of a shuttle.
If there is an alternative solution to providing access via a Blackberry mobile please provide a FAQ so that I can educate myself on the technical steps necessary to being able to access the Message Board via my device.
Thank you kindly and with warmest regards for all your service and volunteerism. Your friend, paddling and shuttling able companion.

Send me an envelope with $6,750 (in hundreds and fifties) and it will be done in a week.

My blackberry accesses it. And by accesses I mean that it does whatever lame attempt at web browsing it usually does.

If you are using a Blackberry, download the Opera Mini browswer. There is something set up with the Blackberry browser that makes it time out when you are requesting a large amount of information at once. I have the same issue with multiple websites when I am using the default Blackberry browser.
http://www.opera.com/mini/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have been using the Opera Mini 5 beta and have been really impressed with it.

Re: Dear ACC Board Access MB Via Mobile Devices
I'm thinking folks' performance and capabilities on mobile devices may vary a lot, based on handheld type, carrier, O/S (operating system) version on their handheld, and maybe several other factors.
I'm on a Sprint Blackberry and able to access the MB successfully. Recently upgraded to Blackberry O/S version 4.5.*. The Blackberry browser that came w/ the O/S upgrade is MUCH improved over the old one. I had loaded Opera Mini before the upgrade and liked it, but haven't bothered with it since the O/S upgrade. But Opera is a great little browser - might go back to it. Much more realistic and readable rendering of web pages.
To my knowledge, I've not experienced the timeout that Jonathan mentions above. Still just having the ongoing frustration of not being able to stay logged in and having to log in every time I access the board, which is more tedious on mobile vs. full-size keyboard, esp. when blasting down the highway doing 80 (okay, not really...shouldn't joke about that).
I have to agree with Shelby, though, that the MB has become much more than a nice-to-have...many of us have become dependent on it, particularly when we're on the move and conditions/circumstances are changing fast.
Maybe we could create some device-specific threads that become sort of a knowledge base for accessing the MB by device. And I'm still holding out hope that the MB can be configured/fixed to keep us logged in...please? Pretty please??? Soon???

Re: Dear ACC Board Access MB Via Mobile Devices
There are some ways to get have the board formatted with a different style for mobile devices, etc. One possibility is to just have a separate URL for mobile access that has different (simple, low bandwidth) style. I'll look into how hard that might be to get going. It might be pretty dang simple actually.

Blackberry Storm on Verizon is working now but has not been since the board upgrade.
