Cossatot Sat 13

Post by Half Ton » Thu Feb 11, 2010 10:31 pm

I'm gonna go from fayettnam eventhough it will be right near the cutoff. 52 degrees, sunshine, and it just might quit rainin' sometime soon....

Anyone else gonna be there for a 10 or 11 run from ed banks ? Anyone else from NWA wanna go? I got a tiny crew and we could carpool or bring the extra vehicles if necessary.

Also , anyone else from NWA not been yet that I've paddled with and wanna go? If you haven't been I think you should. For certain.

I'm just checkin, if so... gimme a call 479 970 thirtyfive fitty.

I wish I could make it. I promised I'd stay in town for Valentine's Day. Take lots of pictures!

Well, it's not coming up, but it's not going down much either....who else is in? Local group looks to be headed to the Mulberry.

Might have to decide in the A.M.

I have in fact lost two from the group who are opting for the Mighty Mulberry tomorrow.

But, I have two solid heading with me to the Cossatot. Maybe a third.

If I don't get a confirmation on this board, about someone else being down there then I guess we will take seperate rides down there for ed banks to through the falls..... or we could decide just to take one ride, hope someone else will be out there and if not just have to be content with running the falls over and over and over and over.

I thinkin' closer to 11 am arrival rather than 10 tho.

Sure turned out to be great day on the cossatat. 3.5, sunny, and 50 degrees.

I sure was glad that the two guys I went paddling with didn't mind practicing for an adventure race by running the 5 mile shuttle in under 50 minutes including drive time back to the falls. One of 'em ran it barefoot.

This guy running Cossatosser was a first timer who did well, but had enough after one succesful run of one rapid in the falls. He was pretty gutsy for giving it a good shot but reached his and did not want to run eye opener.

This guy was another first timer, but better paddler than me, who ran it all and did really well

With the exception of this

Ouch. That had to hurt. He was pushing himself trying to catch the eddie, and just missed by a tad.

A great day on the river for my first timer pals, and me.

Every good paddle day has to come to an end sooner or later sometime.

great pics. i had a blast my first time on the tot. i ran a few rapids well and a few kicked my butt. i plan to go again as soon as i can. the people who helped me down and gathered my gear after swims are some of the nicest I have ever met. can't wait for the next time.
