Post by pup1211 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:49 pm

Hey, just moved into the area and looking at the gages things seem to be coming in. Just wondering if any body is planning to paddle 2morrow? If so, can I come!! The Wister wave is in would love to hit that thing up again, but willing to paddle anything.

Do you use the americanwhitewater.org site for the Wister wave? Or is it just off

I don't know much about Wister, but here is the site I think most paddlers use around here.

The gauge listed on the OWP is on the Poteau River significantly downstream from the confluence of the dam outlet. Check the Army Corps website here;

http://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/WIST.lakepage.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Third line under Current Readings says "Resevoir release is..." Wister is currently at 1119 cfs, so it is not in.

I've never been to Wister but I have it on good authority (FarPastGone) that this is the link to use:

http://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/WIST.lakepage.html

...and that it is best between 5200 and 6000 cfs. He says it's a bit trashy but still OK at 3000.

Hope this helps.

Just beat you out Dave. :P

Think the premo level is more like 5500 to 6500.

For some reason I am no longer able to pull up C of E sites. I have several of them bookmarked and the results are the same. Obviously, others are able to do so. Any thoughts?

Richard, I used the address in your picture and was able to access the CofE site with both IE8 and Chrome. Try installing Firefox or Chrome to see if the problem continues with the other browsers.
