Kayak Shipping

Trying to find the best way to get a boat shipped here from Knoxville TN.
Any suggestions would be great.

I've used ForwardAir a couple of times with no problems. Both times it was around $80 from terminal to terminal. I was able to add insurance for $1 per $100 of insurance too. You can view a map of the terminals on their web site.

Check with some of the bus lines that run from Knoxville to here. You can get a ticket just to put stuff in the cargo area under the bus. Knew some guys that had luck getting their boats to Cali. this way after they flew there.

Forward Air is the way to go. I have used them also.The Bus Lines have been tightening their reins on what they ship. I tried them a while back, and they said they've never shipped a kayak. " LMAO" They might still ship surf boards, so if it's wrapped they cannot tell what it is, right? Tell em you gotta surf board you want shipped.

Thanks everyone!! Forward air is gonna be $86.00. to get it here from Knoxville. It's been a few years but i shipped a Dagger Dimension out to Redding CA. for a guy for a little over a hundread bucks. It was gonna be more then that for the creek boat i'm getting now. Guess it's just a change in the times.

Shipping casts started sky rocketing when fuel prices did. Shipping costs did not go back down when fuel did. I don't expect them to either. I shipped a boat overnight to Colorado through FedEx and if I hadn't received a friends 75% off employee shipping discount, it would have cost over Two hundred dollars. This was in 97' Still cost me $76.00. It was worth it at the time

If you know any truck drivers or anyone who works for a trucking company, ask them about the possibility of meeting up with a driver. I work in Transportation Logistics, and have made these kind of side deals with the carriers before.
There might be room to chain it up behind the sleeper. A lot of drivers keep a bicycle locked up back there between the fifth wheel and the cab.
