Big Ice on the Piney Yesterday
On a lower piney float yesterday there were some unbelievable icicles on the big bluff halfway down. Note my partners kayak for a size perspective.

General area: A little bit North of Russellville. More detailed answer:
Another good resource for Arkansas streams is found here: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... /state/AR/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Scan down until you find “Big Piney – Long Pool Campground to Hwy 164”. This is the second most popular stretch of the Big Piney (right below the Helton’s to Long Pool run) and probably the one Steve was referring to. He’ll need to confirm though, because a few folks do float the Piney even below Hwy 164. Generally from 164 down it is considered a “fishing stream”, and doesn’t get much use by the WW folks.
Put In 35.55 -93.1623 (Long Pool – Public Access)
Take out 35.5054 -93.1813 (Hwy 164 – Privately owned by Moore Outdoors, VERY boater friendly, couldn’t be more boater friendly, can’t say enough good…)
P.S. – If you look at this in Google Earth, you may notice a “Burger King” about 0.5 miles up the road from the Hwy 164 take out. It ain’t so. This is the location of the Moore Outdoors store; Google earth has just tagged the address incorrectly for some reason.

Re: Big Ice on the Piney Yesterday
Cowper is correct. This is the section from Longpool to Moore Outdoors. And if you have never floated the Upper from Helton's to Longpool I would highly recommend it. At a level of about 4' it is a great bouncy seemingly remote run. Don't go when it's too low or you will be in for a long day.
Oh, and paying Moore's to shuttle you is worth it IMO.
