Snow anywhere - n/w/nw Arkansas?

Post by Lupe » Fri Dec 25, 2009 3:52 pm

No snow here in Little Rock...

Can anyone report on snow in the rest of the state? If there's snow on the ground that will last until Saturday, I'd love to do a paddle where there's snow (South Fork Little Red? Illinois Bayou? Frog Bayou? Mulberry?)...

If not might head to Cossatot Saturday and/or Sunday...

Let's hear some snow reports from other parts of the state!!!

Thanks!

Lupe,

I imagine that snow will still be on the ground at frog bayou, mulberry, and lee creek tomorrow.

I live south of huntsville and we have between one and two inches on the ground the high temp of the day was 26 degrees. so not much melting happened.

i am looking for someone to paddle tomorrow.

Any of those or others sound good to you? I saw you asked about Sugar...I have never done that so I'd want to go with someone who is familiar with it, but I 'd be game. Although given the chilly temps, something more mellow would suit me okay as well. Maybe it's silly, but I just would really like to see the snow! I figure the Tot will still be there on Sunday...

Any takers for something in that area? Anything sound good to anyone else?

Later,
Heather

I really like the Frog too, although I think the Mulberry will probably be very pretty.

I'd be game for the Frog though, especially since you just hit the Mulberry yesterday. I probably would say 10:30 for me to get there if that would be okay with you...meet at the take out?

My car battery had died today and I got a jump and drove it around a bit...I'm hoping it will hold the charge until morning, but if it doesn't it could take me a bit to get going. I will try to start it up first thing though so hopefully if it doesn't turn over I can find someone to help me out and still make it. Here's my number in case you need to reach me: 5 oh 1 68 one 2 99 three.

Anyone from Little Rock/Conway want to go Froggin' post up and (assuming my car starts in the morning) we can carpool!

Lupe,

i can be there whenever. at frog or mulberry. let me know how the car starting goes.

eric bell 479 737 5328.

i think that the frog beats the mulberry hands down. just personal preference. mulberry is closer to me too. whoop and holler had some nice waves thursday, but a lot was washed out as well above whoop and holler. the surfing was okay, but not as good as lower levels.

I may be up for some Froggin' myself tomorrow since it's only 30 minutes from my house. Post up when y'all decide what the final plan is.

Cool -

Assume 10:30, but I'll post before 8am to confirm that my car has started and I'm on my way!

I'm going to pass on paddling the Frog today. Just a bit too brisk for me.

Hope y'all have fun.

Ok - my car is running, hot cocoa is in the thermos, and I'm rolling out of there shortly. Eric - looks like it might be just you and me...hope that's okay. Please give my cell a ring if any change in plans; otherwise see you 1030 in Rudy. 5 oh 1 68 one 2 99 three!

Cheers,
Heather

So how was the snow cover still?
We have land on a mountain overlooking War Eagle creek in Aurora and the snow was gorgeous on Christmas day. Almost completely gone today.Sad...
War Eagle looked like a nice float though...
I wanna leave this world the same way I came into it... naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood...

Joe - the snow cover was still pretty good on Saturday. Driving west from Little Rock I was beginning to wonder because snow didn't show up until past Russelville somewhere. But once I got to 540 there was definitely a lot of white on the grassy areas.

I was glad to see the snow, but unfortunately we forgot to think about the other consequence of the weather and temperatures which is that the road into Rudy was thickly iced over in quite a few spots, and so sadly we ultimately decided that the road to the put in was too steep to try to negotiate with a sheet of ice...ending up with a car in a ditch didn't seem worth it.

So, got to take a drive and see the pretty snow, but no paddling. Did my second icicle tour of the season on the Cadron yesterday. Cold with no snow but at least we had icicles. Brrrr!
