Womens PFD

Post by L.A.paddler » Fri Dec 04, 2009 1:04 pm

I know this is not the gear review forum, but I was hoping to get a quick answer from some of the women paddlers and I know this forum is visited much more. I am wanting to buy my wife a new PFD for christmas and was looking at the Astral Wonder and the Stolquist BETsea. Are there any women out there who have expeirence whith either of these and could give me an oppinion on them? And info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Terry D

Hey Terry,

I'm thinking maybe you're looking specifically for a front zip model?

In case an over the head style wouldn't be a deal breaker, I'll put in my vote for the Astral Bella. I have the Greenjacket which is the rescue version...I had the Astral WonderPro before that. The adjustment I can get from this new Astral style is really superb. However, I know some folks just don't like having to pull the vest on over the head...but for a great fit for a variety of body size/shapes, I've been really happy with this design.

What a good hubby you are! :D

I had the betsea, didn't care for it, not comfortable. The Bella I have now and it is comfortable, you have to pull over your head and only problem is you have to fasten 3 hooks and tighten them down. I usually just leave one side the same and only take loose the one side to get off my head. I guess I like it ok, need someone though to come up with a perfect pfd. I have 3 and only use the one. I would consider selling the Betsea.
