Camping at Dierks (updated)

Post by ouachita hiker » Tue Nov 10, 2009 5:18 pm

Ok everyone I checked with Tiffany (COE) this afternoon and this what she has agreed to:

After ALL campsites are full, at least two tents per site, then the area around the pavilion can be used for camping.

The pavilion may not be used for camping! If you pay for a camp site then you have the right to use the pavilion
as a meeting place, cook (there are three grills around it). You just can't camp in it, it is for day use only.
Parking isn't a problem around the pavilion. If you are camping in your car/truck just pay a two dollar day use fee.
That is half of the cost of a camping spot anyway, unless you are with some one on a site. Right now there are lots
of empty sites.

Last weekend there was at least two sites not taken, behind the host camper. There is one site that we are going to
work on to straighten up the fire pit.

This weekend I will be gone to a play off game Fri. night but Janet will be here. I will get around Sat. morning then we
will be headed out to work with the Friends of the Ouachita Trail on a major push to clean up the Ouachita Trail from
the AR/OK line to mile one at Talihina State Park.

I will trust you guys and gals to do the right thing!

So sorry if I came across all ruffled up in the original post! You are welcome here and don't anyone turn away. If I am
not here and all of the camping spots are taken just camp around the pavilion, lots of space there.

That certainly sounds reasonable to me. And I personally didn't think your previous post was too harsh. Thanks for your ongoing hospitality!

Forgot that the AR Modern Gun hunt for deer starts this weekend! We could have some hunters in the park. Site 11, was open last weekend, now has a camper in it. At this time these sites are open:
1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 7.5, 8 and 9.
I will give a update Thursday night and will try to also Fri. morning. I will be headed down south for our play off game
at 1:30 Fri. afternoon. Janet will be here to help you out Fri. night.
Remember if all is filled you are welcome to camp around the pavilion!
