Bliss-Stick SCUD Reviews?

Post by Owl » Sun Nov 01, 2009 7:44 am

I've seen a few Bliss-Stick SCUD's around lately and I'm rather intrigued by the design. In searching the forums I found some comments that are a couple of years old but would like to hear more current opinions of the boat from local paddlers including the paddler weight/size range for the boat that seems to be lacking on Bliss-Stick's website.

Unfortunately, I only surfed mine in the Gulf. I kept opting to take my mystic on river runs, so I eventually decided to sell it. Now that I have a great local run with lots of surf spots, I'm really missing it! Anyway, I paddled it around 245lbs before gear. I have a 30 inch inseam, so that wasn't a problem. There's a picture on the Bliss-Stick site of a 6'6" guy getting in one. My size 13's were a snug fit, but I could have fixed that by carving out a little more room in the center block. That guy had size 16's! lol I've complained to Bliss-Stick about posting paddler weights, but it hasn't done much good. Maybe Mike Coogan (Capt Aleve) has had more luck getting some definite numbers. Oh and I've ran into people that swear by the SCUD. I sold mine to a guy in Mexico and he sent me a great picture of him running a big waterfall (20-25ft) in it.
