Class I-II Saturday near B-Paddling/Richland?

Post by KimL » Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:29 am

I have paddled very little in the past two years but really miss it. I'd love to get out on Saturday. Unfortunately, Roger and I will go in one car to B-Paddling on Friday, and he'll probably take the car Saturday. Will anyone else there (with vehicle) be interested in paddling something less than Richland? How about the Piney? a short Buffalo stretch?

I think Dale has done the richland section above the traditional run and said it was nice and not as intimidating as the regular run. The shuttle should be easy as well. You should also think about the Hurricane creek run. It'd be pretty easy as a shuttle too. ty

T, thanks! Isn't Hurricane above my current abilities?

I would think if you're pretty comfy on piney, and wanting to do a bit more, hurricane would be it. That's assuming the level is at a medium to lower level and not that pushy. Ask dale about the far up richland run. It might just be the ticket, ty

It's a neat run, but there are some trees in play that need to dealt with, especially in the 1st mile after the putin, otherwise mainly class 2, acouple class 3. dale

I used to be okay on a little class III but am not anymore. I just need to get in basic paddling time to get used to it again. Thanks, though, guys! (Yes, Roger may get his shuttle driver after all.)

Another option would be that we could haul you up to the CCC camp and you could paddle down to our swimming hole or the Bridge. Not very long, but nice and easy, minimal shuttle. Dale

Thanks, Dale!

I know I could just rack up more shuttle driver points with Roger too . . . . and hike.

I don't have the vehicle for it, but with Richland maybe running pretty strong, there might be several boaters out there who would benefit from a generous Falling Water shuttle volunteer for Saturday. With the road closed, that would take pressure off folks to feel like they "have to" go for Richland... My car will barely make it down to Dale's, but I have the time to do it and I bet some others would too.

If someone was going to be hanging out at Richland Campground anyway, they could meet boaters who had "shuttled" down to the landslide area from the Falling Water put-in and run them and boats back up to the other (downstream) side of the landslide. Then a short hike with the boat would complete the shuttle...

Just an idea. Wish I could paddle!

Depending on Richland's level, I can see the Falling Water option. And I was going to make sure I had Kim's boat loaded just in case, Bryan. :D Figured I could get a ride with someone and let her take the car. Been busy, boy!!!! Can't post on every thread!!

Fishy,

Me and the rest of Team S are thinking that you would make a fabulous shuttle-bunny for our upcoming attempt on the not-so-first-d of Richland, Falling Water, and anything else that's running in the area. We would be more than happy to allow you to ride in our vehicles to the put-in, drive them around to wherever we find necessary, repeat, and furnish take-out beers. Oh yeah, feel free to bring me a boat and gear as well since I am lacking all of the above for the time being. :) When it comes to gear, I like Hucks, Green Jackets, non-smelly dry-tops, shoes that haven't been infected with that weird fungus growing on your feet, and maybe a 12-pack of something tasty for the end of the day. Just think of it as your atonement for your disgusting lack of boating, good reasons or not ;)
Smile, summer run-off is coming!!!

Okay, I'll admit it, I do enjoy shuttling when runs are (way) above my level, because it's the closest I'll ever get to doing some of this stuff. :D
