If you haven't done this run, it's well worth the trip. I've been lucky to catch the Cascades several times and it's one of my favorites! Not sure what the water level will be for the class 3 run below the Cascades, but that's great too, especially if you look at the 4+ stuff and don't like the idea of running it. Horns of God, Big Kahuna, and Chinese Feet - all classics and all can kick your butt in entertaining ways! :)

On the down side, they don't release weekends, so it'll be harder to get time off to go out for these releases. However, I'm not complaining. Can do extended weekends with the Talulah and maybe Cheoah in play too... I'll have to save some vacation days for Nov next year. As luck would have it, I'm out this year since I can't boat for another 3 to 4 week. I've waited a long time for this, and if I could go I would!

Uh, Fish, you can't boat for 3-4 weeks? You not bringing a boat to Pam and Dale's this weekend or did I miss something?

I'm out of the water following some surgery - nothing serious, but can't get wet for 6 weeks. :(

So no boat for me. THought about a raft ride, but I'd have to be pretty certain of not getting wet or bounced around much so that takes all the fun out of it. :)

I could be wrong, but sounds like from the article and talking to other folks out here, that they will be releasing on the weekends as well, just lower flows....perhaps still good for the Cascades but maybe not for the upper Nanty. 500 cfs on the Cascades should be quite beefy (aka BIG), so lower flows might be better for those not looking for a beat down

If there's no beat-down, then there's no reason to go watch... Come on Cathy, I'll go hold the camera and fuel you with take-out beers for a 500+ run down the Cascades anytime :) I of course do not have the skills to be there, just reference a few of my recent pictures...
Smile, summer run-off is coming!!!
