Got the rare chance to run big creek this morning. put on at day break, FREAKEN BADA$$ RUN. AFTER stopping to look at the level and the class 4 takeout yesterday at low flow in the PM, found the rootball and four trees are pushed to river right. making the takeout 100% safe, eddy left under the bridge. the strainers are still there up stream four to be exct. It;s running big this morning. Also surfed the nicest park an play this weekend down river on the Blackfork. about a 9 on the sweet scale Ramsey and capt.Tom threwdown also, VID will be out today. for those of you in this erea this GEM is comperable to Rockport or Deirks and only min. from Poteau or Mena. between Hodgen and Page OK. Capt. Tom got his first loop and backloop in the sucker. still thinking of a name for it??mabee yall can help after you c it.

Glad you liked Big Creek. I would like to run it with someone some day.....since I've paddled it 3 times this month by myself......I live 5 miles east of the Tavern.....I actully put in 1.3 (Ithink) miles west of the tavern put in....

Looks like you had a low level. Take a good look at the takeout if it is over 10 feet.....they say the range is 8 to 12 ft. At 12 ft that whole right hand turn and then the bridge area was a death trap last time I looked...sounds like the trees and rootball may have moved, but there were no eddies on river left prior to the bridge, and if you start into that last turn you are committed......just wanted to mention that.
It is a real fun run! If anyone padles it and I don't have to be at work, I would love to run it again and again.....call me if you like...479-243-9259 at the house.

Drove out to Wister last week bout 515pm hoping to see you guys surfing the wave.....no one there. I want to see it surfed and want to try it sometime......it WAS rockin! I want to get some photos! Let me know when you are going. Laterz

Hey where is the Black Fork park and play????????

The take out was no prob. lev was not as high as it should have been.1500cfs. still some bad strainers upstream. the takeout does have a pile under the bridge. but a good early morning run. The playhole on blkfork is two miles past the freemanhole bridge look for 18-20inches of air space there. or it;s the same gauge as BIG creek. from 500- 1000cfs. but be carefull at 1100cfs that get's scareybad down there you can't cross the bridge at over 1100cfs but can drive around heavener . there are two cabins one at the top of a ridge rite of to your left on blackfork lane with river on your right the falls are down 700ft from the cabin. at 5and 6 hundred it's the sweetest lil hole ,but gets sticky at lower levs. I call it Rickport.be aware that past the pool is the next rapid that has keeper wholes nearly river wide the line is far river left. Wait til you see the vid. If you can come in to heavener call me an I'll share my other gems with .I dnt have a loco Imean local paddler here to run an hit these beautties with on short notice so it'd be nice to know more YAKERS here , we are blessed to have what we do so close . Wister, big creek, blkfork, hawcreek, kiamichi, sugerloaf, and suger creek .and thats just within 20 miles of heavener.

And what can I say about wister ??? it's been called the biggest constant wave in midamerica, bigger than the tulsawave ever wished. and it'll be running for a month. so call 47nin6523337anttime. and Gary I just lost a great paddeling freind, whould be nice to meet more kayakers specialy close to home. the ex doesn't seem to paddle as much anymore so i'm forced not going (bymyself). somthing tells me I won't stop or stop going bymyself but I will rather not go alone.
