Okay, got a message about running tthat tomorrow. Stopped and checked the take-out for Wolf Bayou:

This was Possum (upstream then downstream) at the put-in.

With more rain scheduled for tonight and a lot still up in the watershed, Cowper/Lance, do you think it will still be there in
the a.m.? I intend to go back early on my way to school and get another visual of the Wolf take-out.

Would like to save somebody a drive if possible.

Checking back later.

Just got off the phone with Shelby. After some discussion, looks like Wolf should be a go tomorrow! Thinking it will peak tonight (still got some rain headed that way) and we get the backside of it. Forecast for tomorrow looks like cloudy with temps in the low 50's.

Will be checking the level EARLY a.m. and posting back.

Starts up above Drasco in Celburne County and ends up in Stone just over the Indpendence county line and then dumps into the White.

Standard Exxon on Hwy 65 in Conway will work. Not the best route up but easier for you.

Depart from there 9:30AM

Roger will make the call. Even if its lower level I'll take the chance to get to see it. Have not run it myself.

FPG, going to get up early and check the take-out "gauge" at 5:30-6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Got a 15-minute drive to school where I can post the visual. Got some good feelings about this!!! Let's keep the fingers crossed and thank Shelby for pulling this one up.

In the morning!

First wave in the downstream pic of the Wolf take-out is almost as wide as the stream bed so it is bigger at 5:45 a.m. than it was at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. Definitely no scraping at the take-out which is needed as Lance's page indicates.

What a day! Met up with Shelby and Greg and went to the take-out, loaded boats, dressed and headed to the put-in and found it with minimum confusion! Figured we were somewhere between too low and optimum with the level.
Water quality can't be beat on this one. Headed downstream into the first 1-2 miles of the meat! The quality of the rapids and drops are just amazing. For me, it's got to be one of the busiest creeks I've ever done.
First good (remember that's relative) drop, I had second thoughts. Mr. Stacy said "do it like Shelby did and like I'm about to do it and it will be all good." Watched him hit it perfect like Shelby. Got in boat and tried my best! Best feeling ever!!
Then, things get interesting with Wolf Bite! I opt to walk the dog and do camera duty. Shelby and Stacy make the drop with Shelby winning on style points. BAck in the boat and head into the Road to Granny's House! Can't remember if I took an inconsequential swim or not (must have then, lost count after a while!) but make it to entrance to the House. House has got bad wood. Level did not allow the sneak on left. We all walk. Back into the boats.
Then on to the Whistle and will it make you whistle. Awesome drop. Once again, I opt for camera duty. It's a tie this time for both Shelby and Stacy. Can't forget all the scenery and waterfalls that adorn this creek. But don't get complacent. Start on down and with our levels, we have some very tight, twisting, boulder gardens to wander through. Uhoh, another swim for me or two!! WE can quit ccounting now.
Finally, things began to mellow out and I get the groove back on the Class II boogie stuff. Then, bang, a few more boulder gardens, and yes another one. More boogie, another couple of nice surprises then finally into the flood plain. Super day. This creek has got all and is a true gem.
Shelby shot lots of video along with what I shot using his camera so look for the evidence.

Was there any other consequential wood besides grandmother's house??
Ran it a bit over a year ago with no wood except one tree across the creek in the last quarter of the run.
Also, at the put-in, did you guys drive all the way down to the creek ?? If so , how was the road ?? When we drove in the last stretch down the hill was pretty rutted. thanks for any info.

David, no real wood to speak of that came into play besides Granny's House. We stopped before we got to the creek and had maybe a quarter mile drag down to creek. Would think that the road has gotten a bit worse since you guys hit it. Guess if you had a really big lift kit on your rig, etc. no problem.

The way the log looked (vertical and up against the overhang) it's probably not going anywhere soon. Greg and Shelby got a better look at it so they might be able to give a little more info.

I got a good look at it. That log will be there until it rots out or someone hucks a saw in there to saw it out.
