Need Helmet w/ Face Protection Advice

Post by Owl » Sun Oct 18, 2009 12:26 pm

I have what hatmakers call a "long oval" head shape meaning narrow side-to-side and longer than average front to back and need recommendations for a helmet with face protection that will fit me comfortably.

The standard helmet I currently use is a Grateful Heads Hard Hit that fits pretty good.

Thanks,

I really like my FNA Xstream. It comes with a multitude of self adhesive foam strips that you add to make a custom fit. I have a very small head, and even so I didn't use all the foam they give. I would think you could build it up to match the shape of your head pretty easily. Each strip is thin, so you just slowly add them on and try it on after each new round of foam until you get the exact fit.

It seems like a very solid, nice helmet...and they will do custom colors for you. I have a nice purple fade... :D

Oh - if you get one, I recommend go ahead and ask them to include the face bar...I didn't and now am trying to add one after market - wish I had just included it from the get go. The bar goes vertically down the middle, and prevents things such as your paddle shaft hitting the bridge of your nose. Trust me, it can happen.
I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
