Illinois Bayou (bridge to bridge) tomorrow?

Post by Roger » Fri Oct 16, 2009 6:52 pm

Looks like my last chance to paddle for while. Could use help with shuttle. Tot too far for this weekend. If nothing else, a little soul boating!

Meet-up time is flexible.

Can be there anywhere from 10:00 a.m. on. Wouldn't want to put on any later than noon. Forecast for Hector is 56 and mostly cloudy. What time is good for you?

Nice day with only the sound of muzzleloaders going off in the distance at times! 50 degrees with a good bit of sun with the clouds. Level was about 6.9 on the USGS gauge. Sight gauge at bridge was at 7.5. Got some misplaced wood in some of the chutes. Problems only for novices.

River is starting to shoal out to the right in two places at this level. Lots of water going through the woods on river left, you need to go right and then it dries out to trickles. Drag over it, get back in boat and then see a major current coming in from the river left side.

Good to paddle with you, WM.

I may join you guys. I'll either do that or the Cadron cleanup. Kind of depends on when I get my happy tail up in the morning and how well I can locate my gear which is all scattered and dusty.

"First bridge" is the steel bridge below Hector? Leaving vehicles there and shuttling to the concrete bridge above town?

I'm in a blue Corolla with an orange rec boat.
