Hurricane Creek (Newton County) Wednesday

Post by Josh Sanford » Tue Oct 13, 2009 7:36 pm

Looks like a good bet for Hurricane Creek Wednesday AM. I will be coming from LR. What time would people like to meet at the take-out? I would propose 9 AM. Unless there is a good bit more rain in the night, the creek will not hold a great level for too long.

Let me know if you are inclined to go. If it is just a small group, then my secretary will shuttle the car down from the top and we will not have to go back up to the put-in after the run.

I think I might talk Monica into going. If we are running late, we can drop a car at the takeout and go to the put-in. What time do you guys estimate putting on?

We are meeting at the take-out at 9 AM. It's a sold 30 min to the top, so I bet we shove off around 10 AM. Two of us are meeting at the KMart lot on Rodney Parham for LR departure at 7 AM.

For those coming from the east (i.e. Conway/LR) you will save considerable time ignoring the website/book directions to the put-in that take you up hwy 7 from Russellville. The route is shorter and trades 20 curvy miles for 15 or so I-40 miles if you take the Lamar exit and hop on 123 and go north So then you cross the Piney and turn left instead of turning right just before the bridge.

Of course on the way back, you will DEFINITELY want to eat at CJs at Exit 81...so maybe that's where the posted route comes from...

I'm coming up with some folks from Ft. Smith but we won't be at the takeout until around 10 AM.

Save us some parking space at the put in. :)
