DAVE CREEK IN FAIRFIELD BAY THIS AFTERNOON FRIDAY 10/9/09

Post by CAPTAIN ALEVE » Fri Oct 09, 2009 9:27 am

Chances are good for enough water to make a run down Dave Creek in Fairfield Bay, east of Clinton, this afternoon, say 1:30 pm at the Exxon on the north side of Clinton. Class III, two miles long, rough, narrow and very steep (160 feet/mile). I swam the first rapid on my last run and am ready to do better this time. Post if you are interested or call me 501 bbb

Okay, Cole. I'll be there. If Dave is too low (not likely) we have a few other options in the immediate vicinity. I'll put some new batteries in the helmet cam.

Three of us paddled the lower half and were surprised at how low it was. I think the muddy water fooled me since it turned out to be the lowest descent yet even though it looked higher. We looked at the top put-in and it was running bigger than it was the time we paddled it. That was not an illusion because the falls had water running over it in more places. There may have been a shower upstream that hadn't reached the lower half by the time we put on.
