The Most Remotest? Have you Noticed?

Question. What are the most remote sections of river in Arkansas?

Last October I had a fine three days, floating the bottom section of the Buffalo from Rush to the White River. Particularly we liked it for the lack of people. We didn't see anybody, save for the last day when a few flatbottoms zoomed past near the end of our trip. Not only lack of people, but complete lack of road access on that trip.



So I'm looking for a similar fix in terms of isolation. Any suggestions?

I've heard that the lower part of the Mulberry from Milton's Ford to Arkansas 215 is pretty isolated. Anyone have specific information to pass along about that section? Or any other suggestions for lonely floats?

Here's one... The Little Red in White County from Wespoint to the confluence with the White and down river to takeout at DesArc.

If you go to most any part of the kings river on a weekday there's a good chance you won't see anyone. I bet crooked creek is same way, but i haven't been there in a long time. And you can't beat the smallmouth fishing.

the lower mulberry from Campbells to Mill Cr is "remote" as far as river traffic is concerned. at 13-14 miles it doesn't get many day trips. there are a few good camp spots for an overnighter but no clean gravel bars like the buffalo. good scenery with eagles in the winter

That craft you have would be great for smallmouth fishing.

Hmmmmmm It is motorized so it has to be registered.
Does it require two registrations or one?
If one, which one?
Or do you put decals on the right side of one and the left side of the other?

The lower Mulberry from Campbell's to Mill Creek is an excellent run that gives a feeling of isolation and has incredible scenery including waterfalls and gigantic rock formations. It is a long day on the river and the pools can seem very long especially in a boat that is not meant at all for flat water. The mistake some folks make is looking at water levels....realizing the upper section is too low and deciding to do the lower section simply because there is enough water to do it without dragging. I assure you your a$$ will be dragging at the end of the day if you make a low water run. If the river is 3ft or above, it is a much better trip. The water will start pulling you out of the pools into the next rapid and you will push you through the rapid into the next pool with some momentum and current.
The shuttle is long, but good planning can make it better. We always go up Hiway 215 to Mill Creek and drop an empty shuttle vehicle there before heading up towards Shores Lake and hitting the gravel to Campbell's. If you take both your vehicles to Campbell's, you start your day by shuttling a car to Mill Cr. and then making the drive back on the front end. This makes it more difficult to get the early start on the river you will need for a 13 mile run. This is a trip well-worth the effort. Cal

Yeah I did notice on your craft that you don't have boat registration numbers. You might get lucky and not get checked on the river but if you are powered by moter(trolling motor)or sail on arkansas waters they can write you a ticket for not being registered. I had a friend get popped on the ouchita river once and it was a $250 fine. Ouch!

oh yeah and it is really cheap to register it. Like $14 for 3 years or something like that. I did it for my canoe when I run a trolling motor rig on it.

There are at least three accesses to the Lower Buffalo that I know of. They are just not known to most people.

I woud say the lowe Buffalo has been my favorite. If you go when its reallly cold, I can guarantee you will not see anyone. We went a few years back when we got that cold snap on Easter weekend. Left Thur, came back Sunday. Saw one couple the first day, and they past us the next morning and we did not see any one again until we hit the boat ramp on the White. O and that craft you have. It looks like you are using a paddle that is attached the boat to turn it, is that right, or will the trolling motor turn it at all.
