I prefer my boat taking the hits, as opposed to my lower body taking direct hits. That's why I'm in a kayak!

I've got a twelve foot Pelican we could cut up and make 3 or 4 of those things.

Yup! but I still like the protection offered being in a kayak. theirs nothing left to damage above the sprayskirt anyway!

Okay, here they are folks...There are a few other companies that make these, but most are made of thick foam with handles. These look pretty bomb-proof. The price is around $300! What about big drops?...sit on your butt and go over

I think these things are becoming the standard for swift water rescue teams. I have talked to some firemen and they are using them because the learning curve is not as steep as a boat and extracting a victim is easier.
I have seen some people surf some small waves and holes.... its kind of a novelty to see it.

I've been down the Arkansas R. Numbers, Upper Gauley, and Upper Yough in MD with folks who were "paddling" riverboards. Wouldn't want one in shallow water... but they melt right through holes that will stop a kayak cold. I've tried one out on Lee Cr. and my assessment was that AR water is too shallow and slow. Flat water will wear you out on a riverboard! :)
