Team Demshitz -- August 1, 2009 -- Hot Springs

Team Demshitz will be in town Saturday August 1st for either some play down at Rockport or (knock on wood) a down river run somewhere near the Cossatot.... Either way they will be at Buffalo Wild Wings on Central Ave. in Hot Springs around 6:00 p.m. for a premier of their video. We will start showing the video around 6:30. BWW will be running some specials for us on food and drinks. So come on out for some fun with Team Demshitz!

I won't make it but tell them I'm still amazed at that high-water run they did on Yule Creek. I watch it every now and again.

Henry and I will probably come, especially if they choose to do the Cossatot. Henry did the Hooligan Race at Fibark with them this year....

Out of curiousity, who all from Team Demshitz will be in Hot Springs? Last I heard Dave and Jared were up on the Skook in BC.

Dave, Jared, and the whole crew will be here...Don't know where we'll end up yet for paddling, but for now we are planning on meeting at the store at 9 a.m. on Saturday Morning to decide. So if you want to paddle with them, show up then. Then onto BWW for chicken and beer and videos!!

Very Cool, I hope a lot of you out there show up to paddle with them and then head to BWW for some food, friends, and videos. Demshitz will also be showing some of their new short films after the main event. Team Demshitz, The Movie. See you all tommorrow at 9 a.m. I may even have some Donuts and Coffee going.

I can’t believe Arkansas kayakers are not jumping all over this. You want a free clinic on river running? This is your chance from some of the best paddlers in the world. Not to mention that they are really cool. This is the second time I’m going to miss paddling with these guys (because of surgery recovery) I can’t believe it! I will be at BWW tomorrow night for the movie.

So, they will be at the shop around 9 a.m. tomorrow (8/1/09) and we will be heading out to the Cossatot. We'll get in a run, be arriving at the falls around 10:30 a.m. or so. After the run, hanging out, etc...we'll head back into Hot Springs and be at Buffalo Wild Wings around 6:00 p.m. and start the showing around 6:30. Hanging out after that until who knows when!

BIG Thanks to Team Pyranha (a.k.a. Demshitz) for coming and hanging out in Arkansas this weekend. For those that missed them, they do plan on being back next summer when they go roaming the countryside for whitewater. Here's a trip report, from what I can remember.

Friday night:
Receive a phone call from Dave Fusilli asking for directions...about an hour later, they find their way into the shop. Sit around, drink a few beers, and talk about the next days plan. Friday night. RAIN!

Saturday:
Wake up to more RAIN and a Cossatot on the rise. Arrive at the store to wake Demshitz up. After a little coffee, we start heading towards the Cossatot. I call Lance and say I'm running a little late because of the RAIN! We arrive at the state park around 11:00 a.m. and are surprised when all the shuttles have been run. Jodie B, says Baker is good to go, so we head out....in the RAIN....put on Baker creek at a medium level. Demshitz wasn't used to paddling through the woods, but were impressed by the creek! Take out, and getting ready to head up to Ed Banks for a fat Cossatot run before we have to leave at 4:00 p.m. to get back to Hot Springs for the film at Buffalo Wild Wings....FLAT TIRE on the shuttle rig and mis-communication, puts us at Ed Banks at around 3:00 or so. Tot's at 6 feet. I put them in and then drove back down to help James with his tire issues....4:00 we leave the falls and head back to town. Have to stop in Glenwood to re-fuel and get James a new tire. Miraculously we make it to BWW on time...Have a great time watching the movie, then head back to the shop for an impromptu after party, and then an after, after party at my house.

Sunday:
I felt like "the all American kid from New York"...hungdown, brungdown, hungup and all kinds of mean nasty ugly things. Get some coffee down, Demshitz loads up and heads on down the road, and the rest of us, James, Sean, Travis, and I head to the Cossatot (but that's another story)

I want to thank OOO for the awesome weekend of fun and , and for the assist Jeremy. Team D... well what can you say that describes some of the best group of peeps I have had the chance to paddle and party with... well "Bitchin Awesome".


I would also like to thank Jack for the TP came in handy...lol
