Getting Salty - Ocean Waves

Are there any tips for paddling a yak in some ocean surf? Heading to Gulf Shores in a week and trying to figure out if I should bring my Fun. Also have a couple of SOTs I could bring with thigh straps. Any suggestions on what boat to bring and how to get started?

The guys at NOC sure do make it look fun.

don't think gulf shores has much in the way of surfable waves unless a big storm brings in some swells from offshore. Don't try and surf the shore break if you do. Good way to break your neck when you get pummeled in the sand. Find a spot where they are breaking further out.
