I crossed the takeout of the East Fork of the Cadron at about 2:45 p.m., 7/21/09. Even though the gauge we usually use (on the other fork) is still reading 1.35 as of 3 p.m. update, I'd estimate that the East Fork is running the equivalent of well over 6 feet on the usual Cadron gauge. The water was at most four feet below the bridge and may have been closer to two feet below the bridge. It was very close to the highest I've ever seen it. And the area continued to be hammered with rain as I drove home, so it should continue to rise.
In other words, if you can't get to the Tot and need something closer to Little Rock, try the East Fork of the Cadron. It is running!
