Illinois Bayou from Lake Dardanelle.
I have been flat water paddling on Lake Dardanelle some and I'm interested in paddling up the Illinois Bayou a ways. Does anyone know if there is a way to portage around the water works dam?

Bushwacker,
You can portage around the dam on the left side. There is a vague trail that you can pull your canoe up. There is not much of a landing though. I have only come down it from above, but it is not too bad. Flat water paddling for quite a ways until the first rapids. Where are you paddling on Dardanelle? I paddle alot from the north launching ramp at the State Park primarily for exercise.
