Summertime...and the livin's easy

Post by Jeremy M » Mon Jun 22, 2009 1:52 pm

Alright, I just looked at the calendar and it looks like July and August are going to rock!!

Here's the breakdown on whats going on:

Saturday July 11 - Hometown Throwdown #2 @ Rockport (format YTBD) ~ 1:00 p.m. start time

Saturday July 25 - Surf and Turf and Party @ O.O.O.

Saturday August 1 - Team Pyranha coming to Rockport then premiering a new Team Demshitz video (video premier location YTBD- most probably a restaurant in Hot Springs)

Saturday August 8 - Hometown Throwdown #3 @ Rockport (format YTBD) ~ 1:00 p.m. start time.

As I get details for all of these events nailed down, I'll post them up here...Can't wait!

 On the second hometown throwdown, we're tossing ideas around about formats, possibly sometype of boaterX relay race or boater swap rodeo (kayakers into open boats and vice versa). Any other ideas would be most welcome!

No band has volunteered for the O.O.O. party after surf and turf yet. I definitely wouldn't mind hanging a sheet from the store and getting a projector to show off some videos and having a mini film festival at the party....

Alright,

So Mr. Tarver has agreed to donate the use of his projector for the post Surf and Turf party at O.O.O. Film Festival. So for the party, bring your best videos and we'll show them up on a big screen, i.e. the side of the store. For sound, it would be nice if someone had a modest sound system.

As far as music for that evening...just bring your "git-boxes", bongos, harmonicas, etc....for an informal "camp fire" session.

Of course we'll supply some icy cold

Now if only we could get some ideas for the next Throwdown format....I'll sweeten the deal...To the contributor whose idea we use for Throwdown #2 at Rockport, I will give them a complimentary pair of Mountain Khakis! Now, let the brainstorming begin!

I've got an idea.

Line up a whole bunch of boats...with numbers on them. Then you put the same numbers in a hat, and draw them out for each competitor. Whatever number you get..that's the boat you paddle. If it's too small, too big, a kayak and you're an open boater....vice versa...too bad. You compete in what you get.

That way, everyone is out of their comfort zone.

We could also have assassins spraying people with water blasters at the eddy rock..screwing up everyones Chi.
I'm sure I can think of some other stuff. Just takes time.

The only thing about the water balloons...the inability to retrieve the rubber pieces after they burst. Thus contributing to river litter...and bad karma.

Otherwise, I'd be all for it.

Jeremy,
If you don't know, you've got to ask, correct?
Therefore, I ask thee, exactly what does it mean for "Team Pyranha coming to Rockport"?
Is this a show of their skill and breath taking tricks? Just curious.

Thank you
Tim
