Working in a quick float soon, of course there's always variables, but any suggestions on the two sections shown in the poll (assuming I did the poll entry correct).
i.e. scenery, interesting points, etc. We've not been on either one and any part of the river we have been on has always been great.
Look forward to any input.

Re: pick a Buffalo section...
been a loooong time since i went down to Rush. This time of year it will have lots more people. Not so much an issue on a weekday. Can't really compare feature for feature. We did Carver to Hersey last weekend and it was great. Some real neat spots toward the end above Woolum.
If the gauge here is below 3.8, the park service says TOO LOW. It will prolly be there in about a week without another charge. Another point to put in your equation. Outfitters will know better because a lot of water can come in downstream of that gauge.

You sure this is on the right channel?

There is not a bad section on the entire Buffalo. Consequently it is all about water level. When there is enough water my rule of thumb is to always move upstream because it is not available as much. As the river gets low then move downstream.
Princple #1 of Leave No Trace is to "Plan ahead and prepare" That means among other things to go when the crowds are not there. Like Clif said, weekdays are best this time of year and anywhere from Maumee to Rush makes a great float. Make sure you make it a leisurely float. It should not be about how many miles you can float. Spend time swimming, relaxing in a shady spot amd exploring tributaries. One of my favorites is Water Creek located between Spring Creek (another favorite) and Highway 14. If you take out at Rush try wading up Rush Creek and check out the ghost town.
ABOVE ALL ELSE, AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WATCH OUT FOR TICKS. WEAR DEET! CHECK FOR TICKS FREQUENTLY!

We are all afflicted with Cognitive Dissonance. The greater our religious, social, financial or political affiliation, the greater the affliction. We hear what we want to hear. We believe what we want to believe. Truth becomes irrelevant.

Whichever has the water. If both have water, Mt. Hersey to Woolum will most likely be less crowded.
Two really different characters of river between the two sections. Mt. Hersey to Woolum is more intimate, with moderate size bluffs and maybe a touch more available shade on the water. Below Buffalo Point the scenery tends more towards the grand, with big stair-stepped bluffs and more open feel to the river.
Both count as "favored" sections for my paddle partner and I. Although I'm with Richard here, there are no "bad" sections.

I say from Mt. Hershey to Woolum, its not my absolute favorite section, but its higher on my list than Buff Point to Rush. My biggest beef with the lower sections of the river is the number of john boats you get there in the summer that come upstream from the White. Although Hy-Burr bluff and gravel bar is my favorite place to river camp on the buff.
