I have been back in the water for a week and everything feels like it is coming back to me. The only thing i have paddled so far is the Caddo river but that was fun becuase at every deep flat stretch I would practice rolling (which is coming along pretty good). This doesn't include every day after work in a pond/swimming pool
My friends and I are planning another trip to the caddo this next weekend but after that I want to try something with a lot of strong class II in it to keep things interesting but not sure where to start (maybe even a touch of III?).
I have checked out the Ozark pages but I am looking for recommendations. If anyone is running something along those lines and wouldn't mind a newer paddler along let me know. I'm up for anything

Zakkt,
First let me tell you that I am don't consider my self a floater, at least not in recent years. I am the campground host at Horshoebend Campground below the Dierks Dam. I am sure that you will get more response to your question later in the weekend. Maybe because most of the folks are here! We have three features on the lower Saline that I have been told by those that know this stuff much better than me, that they could be classified a II+ to a III. The nice thing here is there is very little danger. If you have to eject (correct word you guys?) from your kayak or canoe the current will carry you around the bend into a sandy swim beach. You can get lots of practice here. You can also float down stream to the Hwy 70 bridge.
Next weekend there is going to be a competition of sorts if you would like to come out. Check out the thread Home Town Throwdown.
If you decide to come and you can't find a camping space just talk to me and I can help you out.

I have been keeping an eye on that thread and was throwing around the idea of driving up there to see those guys in action. The furthest I am probably going to make it this afternoon is the pool in the back yard
If I get back from glenwood in time next weekend (My weekends start at 3PM on Thursday

so it's a high possibility) I will stop by to see what the fuss is all about. Even if I don't get wet it would still be cool to hang around and just see what goes on. Thanks Hiker

If in the future you could come on a thrusday you would have the place to yourself! I don't know how much longer this will run at this level. Best guess by one ranger I talked to today was two weeks. Even then it would be floatable down stream.
