Jimmy Houston sighting on crooked creek

Post by fishhomer75 » Mon Jun 01, 2009 1:36 am

Me and a freind were about two miles down from Harmon on friday, when along come two johnboats. In the first one is TV fishing show host Jimmy Houston with a camera man in the second. Pretty cool to fish the same strech as him, I used to watch his show when I was a kid. Need to get him in a canoe though, those johnboats are too noisey.

You are talking about Harmon between Pyatt and Harrison correct? Thats a great place to fish. Were they biting very good that day?

Thats pretty cool. You know it is a good a smallmouth stream is when a fishing personality comes to fish/film. The fishing got so good one time on that stretch it got so dark we werent able to make it to the takeout, just slept on a gravel bar and waited for the sunrise.

The fishing is great on Crooked....my house is about 2 miles from Harmon and we paddle Crooked creek alot during the Spring...great fishing for those that have not ever fished it or paddled it when its up. I bet it was quite a treat seeing a pro fishing such a remote stream.

It was cool for sure. They Were the only other ones we saw on that stretch all day. The fish bit pretty well early, we did not catch a single fish after about 1:00. We probably caught 30-40 smallies and put half a dozen fat rock bass in the cooler for the campfire that night.
