South Cedar

Post by RTF » Sun May 24, 2009 11:12 pm

South cedar was at a low but runnable level this aft. when we arrived. After running a few laps on the top two drops we realized that the water level was rising fast. We headed down to the Chief with Joe B. making the first run with good lines and a clean run. My first attempt did not end with the same results. Clean at the top, really ugly through the notch, decent line into the diagonal but too much right angle at the bottom, resulting in an extended side surf in one of the nastiest holes i have ever been in. Luckily I am pretty good at catching a rope while side surfing. Joe got surfed on 2nd run (he was trying out a small Pyrhana Burn for the first time.) He can also catch a rope while side surfing. Water had came up even more for the 2nd run and was probably was at or close to the optimal level. I had great lines all the way down to the last diagonal at the bottom but got flushed up over the top which forced me left into the meat. T-boned the backwash but no deal. Another extended side surf. Skirt popped while being winched out, I came out but boat went back in the hole. Shut out by the chief 2-0. I am not ashamed!

I found cedar looks like it feeds lake Coranodo and Balboa, but did not see a south cedar. If it is in the village how do you access it and what does the POA thinks about yakkers? :?
