Cabins to rent near the Buffalo - don't know where yet.

Post by Eric Esche » Tue May 19, 2009 10:00 pm

Susan's room mate from college and her husband are coming over 6/13 to do a day trips somewhere on the Buffalo with us. Susan wants to put them up in a cabin that night and wine and dine them. Obviously we do not know which section or what the levels will be yet, but we feel we need get recommendations and reservations ASAP.

Anyone got inside info on where to stay? I wanted to charcoal some steaks and cook some other stuff but I can do that outside on a grill.

Thanks, Eric Esche

We've rented from Gordon's in Jasper. Nothing fancy but the price was right. The cabins are a couple a miles east of Jasper. If ya use them in winter bring loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooots of fire wood!

There are several in the Tyler Bend Gilbert area. Gilbert store has some and one of the outfitters on 65 has some. The one's in Gilbert are very popular.

This link has a lot of outfitters and quite a few of them have cabins.

Hope this helps.

We have stayed in one of these, Eric. But we had a big one, 12 people, and one giant party! (Still haven’t recovered and that was in January!) Just south of the Hwy 65 bridge.

Janetlee & I stayed in one of BOC’s cabins one Valentine’s Day weekend. Both were pretty good.

Better jump on the stick, Brother! They say these cabins rent out pretty fast during the tourista season!

my wife and i have stayed in BOC cabins a couple of times in Ponca but there prolly won't be water that far up in the middle of June. they're great cabins though. Middle Buffalo has some good cabins from buffalo river outfitters.

We got a reservation last night after about 3 dozen e-mails to several places. It is one "off the beaten track" 2 miles from the pavement between Snowball and Miracle Springs. It is one being managed by buffaloriverlogcabins.com for out of state owners and is still open for reservations for most of the month of June if someone needs a place to stay other than Friday the 12th of June and Saturday the 13th.

Thanks for the tip Terry.

Eric

BTW - I will write something (maybe an article) on where I looked and what I found and what it cost if anyone would want to read it. Otherwise it will just be a post in followup here on the message board.

Another great place is Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. It's close to Kyles Landing and has beautiful cabins for about $80.00 a night. An Italian chef cooks @ the lodge on Saturday nights and the canyon offers the best rock climbing in the mid west. It's the coolest place to stay in NW Arkansas.

A friend and I stayed here 5 nights. (near Jasper)
"outstanding" is an understatement.
